Wanna a clear a room full of Goreans? Scream out the term “Radical Feminist” and you will get an empty room and FAST! All kidding aside, when I put this outfit together using pieces by the creators participating in the We <3 Role-Play event, the look make me think my avatar was an artistic rendition of the concept of radical feminism – a warrior fighting a patriarchal system that attempts to keep her in a position of “less than.” This lady rocks!

Let’s take a minute to talk about Weaponry in role play fashion. I think at times I overlook the artistry that abounds when it comes to weapon design and make it just another accessory. So much detail is referenced in the weapons, and I believe that showcasing these creations is something I should do more regularly. Don’t get me wrong, I could not critique weapons in terms of function – but I know a good design when I see it and this bow from EZ weaponry has it.

Last but certainly not least is this new skin from League – and for anyone who knows me, they know I love my League skins! Overall I am thrilled with the increased attention to and creation of realistic ethnic skins on the grid nowadays and Aria is certainly a strong contender for one of my favorite black skins. Incidentally, I haven’t taken this skin off yet since I bought it!

Greetings fellow role players! The We <3 Role-Play event debuted this week to a smashing success! Because of this, I thought I would take some time to post some of the looks over the next few days featured at the event. First up is from a newish store called The Library. The store is the new brain child of Sabina Takakura and Dream Resistance, formerly of Fantasia and I just knew these two couldn’t stay away from creating for too long! As you can see the outfit is flexible for a multitude of genres (except Gorean Free Woman in by the book sims) and the texturing is sublime. I definitely tout this as a must have for your role play wardrobe.

Oh and by the way, Exile is back and with a vengeance! Along with four new styles, Kavar has implemented a new hair color hud for his designs along with a mulitude of new colors: For more info on the hud, visit Kavar’s post here. This particular hairdo I am sportin’ today is “Fire to the Rain” and it is simply RAWR!

Recently I was asked by the owner of KnickKnack, Levia Larsson, to create an image she could use for a store poster of her slave outfit Marna. I was absolutely thrilled and flattered by this! I have been a long time fan of her work when it comes to role play fashion (gorean, medieval, Game of Thrones) so the honor was truly mine. Her texture work is some of the best out there, in my humble opinion, and appears to be largely hand drawn. Even though she has yet to jump into the world of mesh (and hopefully she will very soon), I highly encourage any role player to keep her store in mind when shopping for fashion. Thank you Levia for the honor of gracing your store walls and, please, keep the beautiful things coming!

Oh and by the way, Levia is going to be participating in the We <3 Role-Play event, the brain child of Ms. Arica Storaro. The role-play shopping extravaganza will a feature w variety of RP fashion designers, including those that focus on fantasy, medieval, Gor etc. The event starts May 4th and I will be posting the landmarks on that date. Opal is my long term slave character. She has had many names since her incarnation: Elle, Babbler, Axiom, Nadima and most recently Opal. In the past she was played by the avatar known as Elle Couerblanc, but as of late, I have moved her to Elizabeth Hallstrom. Now, without further adieu, I am very pleased to tell you the story of Opal…..

She was once a free woman, born and raised on the Island ubarate of Cos, of the Caste of Scribes. Her father was originally from Thentis but found his way to Cos by various business ventures. Her mother was of the Merchants, a native of Telnus, who produced four children during her companionship to Aella’s father. Aella grew up living a simple life – educated at home alongside her three brothers. From an early age, it was apparent Aella had a mind for numbers, like her father.

Even though her father was by caste a scribe – his interests lied in the world of the merchants. After working for some time for one of the largest slave holdings in Thentis - the House of Publius - he invested his own coin into the business and was eventually allowed to open outposts on behalf the House in KoRoBa, Port Cos and Cos. This business strategy was instrumental in creating a slave trade conglomerate for Publius – leading his house to be one of the most lucrative Slave Houses north of Ar.

Eventually her father settled in Cos and companioned Aella’s mother. After her education was complete, Aella began to work for her father in the slave house as an accountant. Her father recognized her talent and even though it was dangerous in some ways for Aella to be exposed to such a life, her father felt he could protect her. But during the “troubles” between Cos and Ar, her father moved the family to Port Cos believing they would be more safe there than on the Island at the time. In Port Cos, Aella continued her work for the House Publius. But much to the chagrin of Aella and her family, the move to Port Cos led to Aella’s slavery.

Before Port Cos’s split from the hegemony of Cos, a man of Ar was captured, tried and convicted as spy. He was sentenced to hard labor as a slave and sold to the House where Aella worked. After several months, members of his family raided the slave house. His family was of the warriors and easily took the guards down. In the skirmish, this same Warrior of Ar took Aella as his captive and along the road to Ar enslaved her.

As they approached Ar, Aella and her captor split off from the group to do some business at a merchant’s compound. Unfortunately, the two were overtaken by a band of brigands and the warrior died at the hands of the rogues. Eventually Aella, now called Elle, was sold to a traveling slaver of Ar. In was in this House where she remained for close to fifteen Gorean years as a trainer to barbarians and one of the favored slaves of the Head of House. Eventually though, she was stolen by a man of Treve – and here is where her story in Second Life Gor began!

Druscilla is currently played by the avatar known as Elle Couerblanc. My previous long term character, Elle AKA Opal AKA Aella Consenza Amaris, was moved to the avatar known as Elizabeth Hallstrom for Druscilla’s story to unfold. God, I love display names!

Druscilla Paulus – Gorean Born Free Woman of Brundisium, daughter of the former regent, Clitus Paulus. Mother, Sigourney Sempati, Red Caste once of Treve. Her maternal grandfather is Ven Sempati of Cardonicus, Red Caste.

Druscilla grew up pampered, wealthy and coddled – and to Druscilla the world is hers to possess and rule. She was the youngest daughter of five girls and until now, had resisted the advances of would be suitors seeking a companion of her status and wealth. In her eyes none of these men had what it took to elevate her life to what she desired. Eventually though, her father refused to relent to her demands and gave her an ultimate: Companion the man he chose or be sent off to live sister in the isolated town of Kassau – far, far away from the high cities she loved.

The man chosen by her father was Xamirus Mannix - the Evil Banker of Ar. Once her companion price was paid to his agents, she traveled for almost two Gorean months until she finally reached a Turian merchant outpost near the City of Koroba. It was there that she met her intended. For Druscilla, this is not a companionship of love nor passion – it is two minds coming together for the sole purpose of moving up the political ranks of whatever city they call home. Relentless in her pursuit of status, she will do anything she can help elevate her companion’s caste and reputation among the cities elite.

Since the ceremony, her life has been one of leisure, parties and whirl of social events. She rarely interacts with Xamiurs but instead leaves him to spend his nights with his love slave Opal, while she entertains the many guests who frequent House Mannix. The idea of actual work, particularly caste work, is a foreign concept to her and she will do absolutely anything to avoid it. Much to her chagrin, as of late, her companion has pushed more caste work upon her, particularly involving his own House accounts.

Conflict is the theme of the companionship between Druscilla and Xamirus. Not only because of Xamirus’s expectations of her contributing to the House beyond its social and domestic needs, but now he had foiled Druscilla’s plans for him to raise caste to Scribes and instead is pursuing the life of the warrior. It was Druscilla’s dream to the companion of a Regent and head a house of full of social grace and gentility. The life a Warrior’s companion is not want she bargained for and she will do everything she can to stop Xamirus it his pursuit of what she calls his “fool’s journey.”

And so the story continues…..

I am back to RPing pretty heavily and in fact I have three active characters now. So I plan on setting a page on my blog dedicated to my character’s backstories. I am running out of inworld “picks” damn it, lol, so I thought if I have a pick with a link to my blog it will make my life much simplier.

A Break from the Everyday AKA Elle’s continuing RP story in Gor

It’s been a while since I talked about my characters in Gor. Things have changed for me in terms of RP and I would say for the better too! I moved my long term slave character “Elle” to the avatar known as Elizabeth Hallstrom (god, I love display names) and have created a fab free woman character named Druscilla Paulus. But today’s post isn’t about Druscilla – it is about the Elle character – who was recently renamed Opal.

For those of you not familiar with Gorean RP, basically when a woman is enslaved she loses everything – including her name. Often times she is renamed over and over by the same owner for whatever reason. Since I created the character “Elle, once of Cos” she has been named Elle, Axiom, Nadima, Babbler, Lux and now Opal. I have to admit though “Opal” is my all time fave name. <3

Anyway enough mushy stuff, it’s time for a brief update on Elle’s story. So let’s get to it shall we?

Port Kar brought the woman once known as Aella Cosenza Amaris, back to her knees. Collared by a man of Schendi then stolen by a lone tarnsman off the docks of the city, Aella found herself in the city of Hochburg. After the long journey she was led into the city by the warrior, shackled and blindfolded, the identity of her new owner still unknown. There she sat in a tavern somewhere in the city, blind to what was going on around her. After an ahn or so had passed, she was finally approached, her ears filling with the familiar voice of a man she knew breifly in Port Kar – Xamirus Mannix of the Money Lenders. There in the middle of the tavern, he named her “Opal” after the valued gem of Gor.

A few weeks after her initial encounter in Hochburg with Xamirus, her life was so different: She was now his pampered love slave. She spent her days by his side, attending meetings with important people of the city. At night in their home alone, she and Xamirus would discuss the days events in detail. But what was truly different with this relationship she had with him is her owner now looked to her for advice. No longer was she just a man’s slave – she was his confidante and his advisor and lover. All this was in secret though, since the Banker could not risk letting it get out that his master plan of Gor domination was influenced largely by the words of a slave.

Soon though the word was sent that he was needed in City of Ko-Ro-Ba to run their burgeoning banking system. Part of the package included a manse and, much to Opal’s chagrin, a new companion. But Opal knew that this woman was needed in his life, to assist him in raising caste and to help obtain the political power he so desired. Now the journey begins….

She was of Port Kar, the Scourge of the Thassa, as the city was commonly called. The woman was alone in the world now - a freed slave with no protection of a companion. Only a sympathetic friend who took her in, employing her as an accountant, gave her the income and shelter she so desperately needed. Knowing good and well this situation was still dangerous for her, she contemplated her fate.

But one day, fate decided to call on her in such a way that she did anticpate. Through a series of events, she found herself a woman on a mission. There she was, alone in the holding of House LeBlanc, a safe filled with coin at her disposal. “The homeless women of this city need so much. How can I help them find their way to safety once again.” With shaky hands, she grabbed as much coin as she could carry in the knapsack. But before leaving the scene she left a note that said the following:

I am writing this on behalf of my abductor who is unable to read or write. He is taking me along with the coin he has stolen. He will put me to his use or dispose of me as he pleases. Goodbye…

She was a highborn woman of well manicured stock destined to marry a man of noble birth like herself. But she threw it all away to live her life as she desired rather than the life her family chose for her. For years she hid from her family, giving up her name and title for her idea of freedom. But now her life has changed: The family she denied has now moved to the Capital in search of their idea of power and status. Will this turn out to be the beginning of a fabulous dream life for this Tully woman? Or her worst nightmare? Only time will tell.

And thus begins the Game of Thrones………

I am starting to explore other genre’s of role-play in Second Life. Now, I haven’t left Gor all together – just taking a break till the right sim comes around (I will finish publishing my Gorean story I started this fall for anyone who cares LOL). For the time being though I am making a home in two “Game of Thrones aka Songs of Ice and Fire” themed sims: Westeros and King’s Landing. The Role Play is very immersive and more challenging than I found in Gor but so far I am having a blast!

In terms of the blog I am probably going to move away from Role Play as the primary focus and make it more about, well my SL world. I have a few new interests in my SLife I would like to share with others – a few a bit more mainstream also. Plus I am missing the theme of Lizzie Lexington’s old blog “The Virtual Adventures of Lizzie” and my plan is to go back to that.

So I am sure most of you haven’t a clue what I am talking about regarding The Virtual Adventures of Lizzie. Well it was a blog I created almost three years ago now and it was more of a picture book blog. Basically I would take a few photos and come up with a story about what Lizzie did that day. Most of it was humorous, with a splash of drama now and then (whoops) but really this blog was really the beginning of my role play life. I wrote largely in third person also, and well, some people got freaked out about that! They found it creepy and odd – some even questioned my mental stability because of it, LOL. But it was a fun blog and a fun theme so my hope is to return to that a bit. Drama, though, will be avoided at all costs though because right now my SLife is really about fun. So stay tuned my friends……
