A Real Life Lizzie Lexington

I love it when I find real life references to my second life – whether it be a place also featured in SL or perhaps a fabulous outfit someone is wearing. Lately I have been thinking about my avatar Lizzie Lexington and how she was so unusual for her time. Imagine 2009, the blogs were filled with images of über Super models – tall, sometimes with ginormous breasts and all looking so cool and beautiful. Suddenly on the scene pops up this chubby, glasses wearing avatar with ill-fitting clothes. Boy did I think I was unique…back then!

Okay, I digress…back to real life and the point of the post. So I work in a multi-use complex – offices, apartments and shopping – and because of this I have all sorts of opportunities to people watch. Last Friday, I was taking a break with a co-worker outside the Starbucks and this girl passes by – a real life Lizzie Lexington in fact! After staring at her way too long and probably making her uncomfortable, LOL, a light bulb went off in my head: Why not emulate her outfit in SL!

With task in hand, I set out to style my avatar just like this real life Lizzie Lexington and, boy, was I relentless in getting this done. So here it is my friends, this fabulous outfit you see here is the result of my labor of love. Thank you real life Lizzie Lexington – wherever you are!

Life is a Fairytale, la, la, la….WAIT isn’t that a Barbie song. Why the hell do I even know this song exists! Is my life so surrounded by images of marketing schemes aimed at children that I can’t avoid it and I don’t even have kids! How sad is that? Any who, enough ranting. Yes, there is no story today but I wanted to do at least one post on the Fairy Tales event but sadly I couldn’t get much to rez there! So I grabbed the first thing that caught my eye that actually rezzed and threw this little look together.

I have to admit I hate events. I rarely sign up to blog events as a whole cause well, my SL time is for me and I hate being on “deadlines” while in world. Plus what if I am paired up with a designer and I don’t like what they made for the event. Gah, how awkward! Nine times out of ten when I decide blog an event, one of two things happen: (a). It is already over and often you cannot buy the looks anymore or (b). Two million bloggers have already blogged what I bought. But honestly this event was really up my alley. Even though I am not an event person and tend to avoid them like the plague, I couldn’t help but admit the concept was super fun. I do plan on going back later this week when the crowds have died down to explore a bit more. But with my luck, it will probably be over by then, LOL. Also, I am probably one of many, many bloggers to feature both this dress and Kavar’s AMAZING “Lady in Red hair”, but I don’t care. They are both simply too beautiful to pass up.

Visit Fairy Tales 2012 now, that is if it isn’t already over, LOL. That’s all I got for now so take care my friends and have a great second life!

There was a debate last week about GE (Gor-Evolved) vs BTB (By the Book) fashion over on my beloved Gor-SL started by a friend of mine regarding my following comment on another thread:

Don’t get me wrong I agree his attire was less than gorean and I love men who dress BTB, but do we want to damage relationships with people/friends who choose to be in GE sims and then saying you have to change your outfit to be here?

I just think its a bit iffy for us to invite the GE players to our world and then tell them “Oh sorry, you gotta change your outfit for us!” Am i making any sense?

After reviewing the thread I decided that pretty much I am a GE dresser largely because I look for mainstream pieces that would possibly fit in my BTB sim. Frankly I like dressing Elle all cute and pretty and a lot of Gorean fashion uses such things that I don’t care for like tons of flowers and teddy bears. Conversely if I try to be uber BTB it gets a bit, well, boring – LOL- and I would probably have like five readers! So to all of Gor I admit it…I am a bit GE!

Now to further show how GE I really am fashion wise, I decided to create a look featuring some pieces a new to me store called tram (thank you Exhibitionista Nirvana for sending me here)! So with that being said, I present to you tram goes GE!

Oddly these pictures talk to me more than any set I have completed for a while. Perhaps it reflects how I am really starting to come into my own role play wise and starting to find a a lot more beauty in the genre of Gor than I have seen in the past. Mind you, there is drama in Gorean Role Play (way less though than in Second Life Fashion though) and recently my sim went through a major upheaval. But in the long run it’s the stories and the beauty of the sims that keeps me going. I don’t think I could completely moved to Gor Evolved but obviously my fashion sense wants me to!
