It was the middle of night as Lady Elizabeth road in a non-descript wagon in the back of the unmarked caravan winding its way through a remote region somewhere near the mountains of Thentis. It was cold outside and Elizabeth covered herself with a blanket, along with a cloak provided to her by the dark skinned man who carried her out of her companion’s home that fateful night a few weeks back. Her companion had died that night, the night she drank the wine of free companionship with him, along with most of his men. He was a slaver who ran a moderately successful house, like her father, Clitus of Vonda, who ran two of the most successful houses for bred pleasure slaves in all of Gor. The marriage was arranged by her father so that her companion would eventually take over his house and essential merge the two as one. But now the House of her companion lay in ruins.
As the attack on her companion’s house began, a stranger burst into Elizabeth’s bedroom, the man who was now guiding the caravan to the City of Tarnwald and swept her out the window to his wagon below. Elizabeth assumed, at first, that she was his captive but in actuality he was her rescuer. Now she was traveling with him and a few others, bound for the northern city of Tarnwald.
Elizabeth was born in the grand city of Vonda but moved to Venna at around age 5 with her mother. For Elizabeth, Venna will always consider this her homestone. Her father remained behind in Vonda as head of the house of Clitus, which had been his father’s house as well. Elizabeth considers herself of the Merchants caste but both her father and grandfathers on both her maternal and paternal sides were slavers. Her father has two of the largest slave houses in Gor specializing in bred pleasure slaves. She is the youngest child and has a slightly older sister.
Her mother is a closet artisan, who secretly indulged in sculpting and woodworking, but was never of the artisan caste because of her family’s background as Merchants. Like Elizabeth’s, her mother’s companionship was arranged but eventually escaped the intellectual constraints of her companionship by moving to Venna under the guise of assisting in the day to day operations of a small slave house there owned by Elizabeth’s grandfather. Instead of the slave house though, her mother’s primary vocational focus became a shop specializing in fine art catering to the rich who would visit the beautiful resort town. Of course though, the shop was financed by her mother’s well endowed personal dowry.
Elizabeth’s mother raised both her daughters to love the beauty of the creative arts, both visual and written. Elizabeth showed talent at an early age in the written word and this talent was futher nutured by her mother and the creative types the flowed in and out of their house in Venna. But around age 12, her father took Elizabeth away and brought her back to Vonda to minimize her mother’s influence on her. Her sister, who was 16 at the time, remained behind with her mother. A couple years later, her mother left Venna along with her sister and traveled to Tarnwald with her “guard/lover”, a dark skinned man rumored to be of the black caste, where it is believed that her mother and sister disappeared into the woods to join a band of panther girls. Elizabeth returned to Vonda a sad, lonely child who had trouble making friends. Her only friend for several years was a girl by the name of Dina who was the same age as her. But the friendship was hidden from her father, since Dina was born to be a pleasure slave.
Elizabeth was largely unsupervised and ignored as a child in her father’s home – she was skinny and a bit of an awkward ugly duckling – so it was easy for her to roam about the house with Dina, dressed as just another girl. Because of this, she learned to dance, to sing, and to play instruments all under the disguise as a girl destined to be a slave. It was happy time for Elizabeth and her friend Dina but at age 16, on the verge of womanhood, Dina was sold and Elizabeth was again alone. Elizabeth firmly believed that her father learned of her friendship with Dina and sold her off as an attempt to solidify Elizabeth’s future as a wealthy Free Woman of the Merchant’s class. She came to this conclusion, because soon after Dina’s departure, Elizabeth’s father was restricted her comings and goings to such a point that she was only allowed to interact with her female tutors and the woman who trained her in her current profession as a merchant of perfumery and fine textiles.
As she matured, Elizabeth blossomed in her trade as a Merchant and soon began to disdain her previous slave playmates in exchange for her acceptance into Gorean society. She also grew into her own womanhood becoming curvacious, and graceful with a beauty hidden beneath her garments. Materialism and the need for the finer things in Gor took over her life and became her first love. Because of this she acquired almost obsessive love for fine clothing and jewelry – a habit which was easily supported in her successful business as importer of fine perfumes and textiles. With the arrangement of her marriage by her father, her future seemed protected…that is until that fateful night in her companion’s home.
Now she must remain in the City of Tarnwald, far from the world she has known. And even though her financial assets may be protected under the secret care of her father, her life may be not. So in a pattern repeated by her mother and her grandmother’s before her, Elizabeth turns to a slaver for physical protection and security – a man known as Draconis of the secretive House of Draconis.
