I watched the Beasts of the Southern Wild over the weekend and I found inspiration for my contribution to this weeks Single Frame Stories Challenge in the words of the beautiful character, Hushpuppy. Throughout the movie, her words were like streams of consciousness from the mouth of the a child. The most moving of these words to me were her final ones in the movie about the universe and how we are all connected:
When it all goes quiet behind my eyes, I see everything that made me lying around in invisible pieces. When I look too hard, it goes away. And when it all goes quiet, I see they are right here. I see that I’m a little piece in a big, big universe. And that makes things right. When I die, the scientists of the future, they’re gonna find it all. They gonna know, once there was a Hushpuppy, and she live with her daddy in the Bathtub.
In my mind, what connects us all are streams – physical, mental, emotional. Some of these we can touch, some we cannot. In a way I feel like my blog is my way of leaving an imprint of myself on this world. So with that being said, my name is Elizabeth and I live with the memory of daddy in Austin TX.
