Explore Gor – Tyr’s Fist AKA Why aren’t your RPing at this wondeful sim!

Serene is the first word that pops to mind when I first laid my eyes on Tyr’s Fist Stronghold. But this feeling quickly went away as I was almost immediately collared as a unescorted Free Woman visiting the sim, DOH! Yes my friends due to work and time zone issues my lovely smithy Master released me on Friday as a Free Woman in order to give me what I thought was a bit more freedom to explore Gor – what was I thinking! But all kidding aside, the folks at Tyr’s Fist are serious about their World of Gor and are damn good RPers to boot. So the question I ask is why aren’t YOU RPing at Tyr’s? 

Tyr’s Fist is Torvies at their finest: A land where men are men and the Bonds (slaves) are curvaceous, hardworking beasts! What more could you ask for in a BTB aka By the Book sim? If you are not that familiar with Gor you may be asking what in the heck is a Torvie? Well let me tell you my friends: A Torvie or person of the Torvaldsland region of Gor is rough, manly, barbaric creature similar to the Vikings and the women of the land follow suit.  Imagine Eric Northman of the popular series True Blood, prior to his, uh, transformation – a hellraising, high on testosterone stallion like Viking, who is kicking ass, taking names and getting lots of tail in the process. The climate itself is also very similar to Scandnavia as well with long, cold winters and short, cool growing seasons and the housing and clothing reflects this climate.

Torvie Free Women and the slave girls known as “bond-maids” or simply a bond have a contentious relationship. Torvie Free Women consider themselves much more superior than the slaves and demand respect based on their intellect. Some Free Women even look down on sex as simply a means to diminish their value and in the context of Gor this idea may be true. In turn the Bonds view their status as much higher than the slave girls of the South and refer to them as “silkies”.  From the view point of the bond, a “silkie” is a lazy pampered pet whereas bonds are are hard working and resilient.  Both the Free Women and the Bonds are indeed a hardworking lot but the difference lies in as much as the bonds are merely valued for their output, both in and out of the furrs vs their humanity. And at the sim Tyr’s Fist, this idea could really be played out!

The build and landscaping of Tyr’s is very similar to my family’s country of origin Denmark and, I should point out, the home of the legendary Viking Erik the Red. A few weeks back my former Master and I visited Tyr’s, I believe on the day the tournament area was opened, and he couldn’t help but draw the similarities between the sim and Danish coastal villages as well!

The entrance is easy to navigate and there is no gate or walls surrounding the community but that doesn’t mean you can roam about freely! I found this out the hard way!

As you make your way towards the Long Hall (community gathering place/eatery/tavern) you start to visualize that Tyr’s truely is a fishing community.  But that doesn’t mean they are push overs.  The men of Torvaldsland carrying their swords from the minute they wake up till they retire for the night and they will take you down in heart beat!

The Long Hall is the heart of the community – it is where the villagers gather at night to eat, drink and be merry.  Free Women are allowed in the Long Hall as well but they better behave or else they might find themselves forced into the Bond Circle with a collar around the neck!  The Free are served by the village Bonds and they are required to be nude during service.  It can get quite rowdy at a Torvie Long Hall so be prepared for a night of fun and debauchery.  So if you are a bit of a prude stay away from the Long Hall cause you never know when a Torvie man may get the fire in his eyes and decides to make use of the closest Bonds “assets” right then and there for all to see!

So in closing, I must say this – if you are a mature, experienced Free Man or Free Woman or a beginner interested in learning the art form of paraRP (RP written in longer paragraphs) give Tyr’s a try.  The RP is wonderful but I would love to see more traffic.  Of course Bonds are welcome and valued as well but the presence of more Free really helps to enhance and enrich the role play of a Bond.  And oh, this girl is at Tyr’s for now as the unwilling bond known as “carrot”, hehe.
